A beautiful website that Google cannot understand will not bring customers. Use this checklist to review any small business website, whether you are building a new one or improving an old one.
Page basics
- One main keyword per page. Avoid targeting the same phrase on several pages.
- Title tag under about 60 characters with the keyword near the start.
- Meta description under about 155 characters that makes people want to click.
- One H1 per page that clearly describes the page.
- H2 and H3 headings that organise the content logically.
Content
- Service pages with real, helpful text. 500 to 800 words is a good target for key pages.
- An FAQ section that answers real customer questions.
- A clear call to action: call, WhatsApp or enquiry form.
- No copied content from other sites.
Technical
- Mobile-friendly design that works well on phones.
- Fast loading: compress images and avoid unnecessary scripts.
- HTTPS with a single preferred version (www or non-www) using a 301 redirect.
- XML sitemap submitted in Google Search Console.
- robots.txt that does not block important pages.
- Canonical tags to avoid duplicate versions.
Images and links
- Descriptive file names and alt text, for example “digital marketing agency in Amravati team”.
- Internal links using descriptive anchor text, not “click here”.
- No broken links.
Local signals
- Your name, address and phone consistent everywhere.
- Local business schema on the homepage.
- An embedded map and a linked Google Business Profile.
After launch
Add your site to Google Search Console, submit the sitemap, request indexing for key pages and check the Pages report for indexing issues. Review performance after a few weeks.
